L'Institut de recherche en histoire de l'architecture (IRHA) is a non-profit organization in Montréal that was inaugurated in January 1990 through an agreement between the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), McGill University, and the Université de Montréal. The IRHA is formed by a consortium of faculty and staff from these three institutions plus nominated individuals who share its aims and ideals. Its objectives are to support historical and theoretical research and interdisciplinary dialogue pertaining to architecture. To help it achieve these objectives, the IRHA manages a modest annual research grant program and organizes regular forums and meetings in which members have the opportunity to present their research and receive feedback from other members. The IRHA encourages collaboration between members on these projects.
In addition to supporting the publication of work generated through the assistance of its research grants, the IRHA has published the proceedings of its major colloquia.
